Fire & Emergency

Detroit Diesel engines have been the industry standard for Fire & Emergency vehicles for over three decades. Today, the Series 60 is by far the most popular engine for premium custom chassis apparatus and will be for years to come. Superior performance and pump control and a dedicated service network have set us apart from the pack.

  • Up to 515 Horsepower
  • Up to 1650 lb-ft Torque

  • 14.0L Displacement
  •

The Detroit Diesel Electronic Control system (DDEC) offers precision pump control that has not been matched by any other engine manufacturer. In 2007, Detroit Diesel engines will incorporate DDEC VI, the most advanced electronic control system to date. Taking advantage of the modern electronics, the new Fire Commander II will put even more precise pump control at your fingertips.

For Commercial Chassis apparatus, the Detroit Diesel MBE 900 and MBE 4000 offer ratings and performance that perfectly match this application. A complete vehicle system integration approach make these engines the logical choice in a Freightliner or Sterling Commercial Chassis fire and emergency apparatus.
