How Far Can You Go on One Tank of DEF?
With only one fill-up of a 23 gallon DEF tank, your truck can go from California to Maine, and back. A driver will have to re-fuel four times over the same distance, letting them top off their DEF several times along the way.
DEF: Available Everywhere
By 2010, DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) will be sold at over 2,500 locations throughout North America. These include:
- Detroit Diesel Distributors
- Freightliner Truck Dealers
- Western Star Truck Dealers
- Travel Centers of America Truck Stops
- Petro Stopping Centers
- Pilot Travel Centers
- Several other diesel engine dealer locations
DEF: Stable Cost, Better Economy

The distribution infrastructure for DEF is in place, and it is available in ample supply at cost effective prices. As with other standardized fluids, the American Petroleum Institute controls DEF quality through a rigorous testing system.
Choose the Size to Fit Your Needs
Whether you’re a giant fleet or a single owner-operator DEF is available to you in the quantity that best fits your needs.
- 275 gallon containers
- 2.5 gallon containers
- Bulk fills at truck stops

Drive Across the Country and Back
When you combine the distribution infrastructure with the fact that you only have to fill your DEF tank once every four times you fill up your rig with fuel, you’re covered over every corner of North America.
In fact, the BlueTec emissions system combined with a Detroit Diesel engine is designed to let you go 5,000-7,000 miles between fill ups of DEF. This means that on one 23-gallon tank of DEF, you can drive from LA to Boston, and back.
